Hot bat leads the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity past St. Thomas Aquinas 11-10

An awesome effort by Mitch Rogers hoisted the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity to an 11-10 win in seven innings over St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas.

Mitch racked up six RBIs on three hits for the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity. He homered in the first, second, and fourth innings.

Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 21 runs and 20 hits, including nine extra base hits. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using seven pitchers in total.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the fifth, with three lead changes.

The Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity finally managed to grab the lead after a strong fifth inning. The Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity scored on a two-run double by Caeden Harris off Nick Pascuzzi, bringing home Tanner Fox and Ryan Brady.

Luke Popp got the win for the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity. He allowed one run over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Home runs for the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity came when Mitch homered in the first, second, and fourth innings.

Nick took the loss for St. Thomas Aquinas. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.

Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity closer Tanner Strickbine put away the final three outs to record the save.

The top of the first saw the Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity take an early lead, 2-0. The Blue Valley Tigers Baseball Varsity got a spark in the form of a Tristan Perkins single, before before Mitch homered, bringing home Tristan.

It didn't take long for St. Thomas Aquinas to respond as it scored nine runs of its own in the fourth. St. Thomas Aquinas scored on a home run by Nick, a three-run triple by James Consentino, and a two-run home run by Alex Van Pelt.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped St. Thomas Aquinas close its deficit to 11-10. A solo home run by Alex sparked St. Thomas Aquinas' rally. Tanner Strickbine got the last out, as St. Thomas Aquinas' Nick struck out.
